Interesting essay, and Apache's method (and FreeBSD's) do work very
well. Lynx was formerly almost solely worked on by Foteos Macrides,
but he's just doing bugfixes and minor improvements now, and for a
while the other developers were at a loss for what to do. I think
they still may be, I don't read the list too closely any more, but
they were going to go over to CVS, with access to developers who
showed a sincere interest.
Maybe fvwm should go this route? I like it a lot, and would rather
not change - and don't program - but it doesn't seem to be progressing
as fast as it might. Distributing the chores has worked well for
projects with which I've been involved.
Kudos to everyone who's worked on it this far, of course.
