You may want to try

  Style * StartsLowered

To prevent new windows from grabbing the focus, use

  Style * !GrabFocus, !GrabFocusTransient

in 2.5.x or the older syntax for 2.4.x:

  Style * GrabFocusOff, GrabFocusTransientOff
