| Well, my beef with xclock is that, at least with the version that comes
| with X 4.2.99.3, there is no way of changing the colors of anything but
| the background when it's in analog mode. That means my clock has an ugly
| red hour hand, ugly teal(ish) minute hand, and ugly blue second hand.

Colours work just fine for me. Here are my .Xresources for it:

        XClock*mode: analog
        XClock*borderWidth: 0
        XClock*update: 60
        XClock*geometry: 64x64-0+3
        XClock*borderColor: black
        XClock*background: black
        XClock*foreground: green
        XClock*hands: black
        XClock*highlight: cyan
        XClock*padding: 0
