FVWM: X program options

Not really an fvwm Q, but ...

In .Xdefaults I can specify
xterm*geometry: <et cetera>

Where do I specify default options for colours, such as "-bg gray"? I tried
xterm*bg: grey
in .Xdefaults, but that has no effect.
