To do this for any menu, not just autogenerated, add:
MenuStyle * AutomaticHotkeys
If you like to do this only for fvwm-menu-directory (or other fvwm-menu-*
script) menus, run this script with, say, "--menu-style dirmenu" and add:
MenuStyle dirmenu AutomaticHotkeys
