This are not really errors, the errors are when you run "make".
The symptoms are that you don't have XFree86-devel rpm installed.

libSM.a is shipped with XFree86-devel.

If you normally don't build anything yourself I suggest you to install
rpm, so you don't need all developement libraries and headers:
http://fvwm-themes.sf.net/rpm/

Try line "id:3:initdefault:" in /etc/inittab.
