I'm not sure why you bothered to do this, but...

How? Did you install an rpm you downloaded from some site or did you
build fvwm2 version 2.2 taken from the fvwm site?

To keep the same functionality that was set up in the original system
you might want to take a look at the system default Xclients file

/etc/X11/xinit/Xclients

which sources /usr/X11R6/bin/RunWM

Is the executable fvwm2 that you wish to run come early in your path, i.e.
before any other verions?

Sure. Do you want to install the latest version of fvwm2 rpm that you can
find or do you want to build and install fvwm2 yourself?

Dominik, I'm not sure I know what you mean by this statement. In the
RedHat setup, the stript /usr/X11R6/bin/RunWM executes the statement

eval "exec fvwm${FVWMVER} ${FVWMOPTIONS}" > "$HOME"/.FVWM${FVWMVER}-errors
2>&1

where FVWMVER is either fvwm2, fvwm95 or fvwm95-2 with precedence in that
order.

and by default FVWMOPTIONS is

"-cmd 'FvwmM4 -debug /etc/X11/AnotherLevel/fvwm2rc.m4"

In fact in this file you will even find statements like:

    echo "RESUMING with Fvwm2 (95 look)" >&2
    Start_Fvwm95

For all I can tell, fvwm95 is fvwm2 with the decors set up for the "95
look". It's not my preferred decor, but...
