SCREEN_WIDTH: predefined m4 macro
FVWM_BUTTONS_WIDTH: define this macro yourself
FVWM_BUTTONS_X := SCREEN_WIDTH/2 - FVWM_BUTTON_WIDTH/2
  let m4 compute this for you
