FVWM: installation problem, Makefile: missing 'endef'

Dear fvwm users,

I would like to install fvwm-2.045 but when I have tried:
1. xmkmf (seems O.K.)
2. make Makefiles (or ./MakeMakefiles) gives the following;
Makefile:745:***missing 'endef' unterminated 'define' Stop

I have Slackware3.1, kernel-2.0.0, Pentium 16Ram.
