Of Course. If you are too tired to use these commands each time, you
can place all the assignments you want in the file config.site, which
will be read by all programs using autoconf. You might argue that it
is as difficult as fixing imake, but I see several advantages:
- you have the choice to use command line or config.site.
- this will work for non-X programs too.
- it is much easier to do: once you have found the right options for
configure, have a look into config.cache and cut and paste the right
lines in /usr/local/etc/config.site (there are also other places
that are searched for). That's it!
