What do you mean? These "patches" are not measly in anyway. How else is

This is something which *might* happen in the future, but it depends on
the attitude of the developers (as to whether it is appropriate), and
indeed whether the users want it.
If you're that hell-bent on 3D stuff, have a look at metisse[1] which is
based on Fvwm, and uses some of the features you're so desperate in
getting fvwm to support.
